The pier will open at 6 a.m. Saturday.

A grand reopening/ribbon-cutting ceremony will be 9 a.m. Saturday, July 1.

The Flagler Beach Pier, a staple in the small beach town, sustained considerable damage during Matthew. It lost about 163 feet as Matthew moved north along the coast.

As a result, the pier has been closed to the public for repairs.

"We're extremely excited about the reopening of our pier," Flagler Beach Police Chief Matt Doughney said in a news release. "Our historic pier is a cornerstone of our beautiful city, and we've all patiently waited for it to reopen."

Doughney also reminds surfers that Flagler Beach city ordinance doesn't allow surfers within 150 feet of the pier.
