Charter Communications is awarding $1 million in grants to nonprofit groups that educate families and seniors on the benefits of broadband and the internet.

The Spectrum Digital Education Grant Program aims to provide digital education in Spectrum markets who have historically been underrepresented in broadband services.

Grants of up to $50,000 are eligible to 501(c)(3) organizations that serve communities in Spectrum markets. Applications will be accepted between June 30 and Aug. 11.

"In an increasingly technology-driven world, the importance of digital education and access to adequate digital resources cannot be overstated,” said Rahman Khan, vice president of corporate social responsibility for Charter Communications.
