One person died and three others were injured Wednesday in a multi-vehicle crash on State Road 408, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

  • 1 killed, 3 injured in multi-vehicle crash
  • Troopers say driver of pickup truck was speeding
  • Charges are pending

The four-vehicle crash happened about 6:30 p.m. at mile marker 18, according to FHP Sgt. Kim Montes.

Victor Jesus Otero, 45, of Winter Park, was traveling eastbound in a pickup truck “at a high rate of speed,” troopers said.

His truck collided with the back of a Honda sedan driven by Lester Balibalos, 30, of Orlando.

The truck began to flip, pushing Balibalos’ car into the back of a Lexus, which then crashed into the back of a BMW, troopers said.

Balibalos was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he died.

Otero and the other drivers had minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.

Troopers say charges are pending against Otero.
