A pedestrian was struck and dragged underneath a vehicle Saturday night, killing him, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The crash occurred just after 10:30 p.m. on U.S. Highway 192 at Magic Landings Boulevard, near Gateway High School.

Jamel Brown, 37, of Naples, was hit by a car and died at Osceola Regional Medical Center.

Brown was walking across U.S. 192 when he was struck by a 2002 Ford Focus and dragged underneath the vehicle, troopers said.

The Ford Focus went off the side of the road and hit a traffic sign support before coming to a stop. The driver, Yashira Gonzalez Diaz, 25, of Kissimmee, was wearing a seat belt but sustained minor injuries, according to FHP.

The crash is still under investigation. No charges have been filed.
