The Florida Highway Patrol is looking into a single-vehicle accident that left a driver dead on early Sunday morning.

At around 1:10 a.m., Jacob Seymour, 37, was driving his 2007 Chrysler van on the Courtenay Parkway northbound when he left the road and went on the shoulder when the front of his car hit a light pole, the FHP stated.

The Merritt Island resident was taken to Cape Canaveral Hospital, where he died.

The FHP is trying to determine if this is an alcohol-related accident and noted that Seymour did not wear his seatbelt.
