Orange County Sheriff's Office investigators are looking for the person responsible for shooting and killing a man off Aloma Avenue near Winter Park Thursday evening.

  • Man claims he witnessed what happened
  • Man's identity not released
  • No mention of suspects

Jay Walsh, who claims he witnessed what happened, said he heard three or four gunshots outside his Sun Bay apartment Thursday night.

“I looked out the window and the man was running from the driver’s side to the passenger’s side, open the door, picking the man up, throwing him on the ground,” said Walsh.

“When he threw him on the ground, that man didn’t move. He was gone,” Walsh added

The victim was left lifeless in the parking lot, Walsh said.

“The man who did it, ran to the dumpsters, threw something in, then ran back and forth a couple of times, like he was confused, like he just realized what he had done. What the consequences were.”

Walsh says the suspected gunman left the scene.

When the Orange County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived at around 6:27 p.m., they tried to help the man who is believed to be between 20 to 35 years old, but he died on the way to Winter Park Memorial Hospital.

Neighbors say they are seeing a trend in the community.

“It’s kind of getting aggravated because of the crime is starting to pick up in this area,” said resident Mike Jones.

Lt. Darryl Blanford with the sheriff's office stated that the man's identity will not be released at this time and no suspect information was given.
