Orange County investigators want to talk to a man they say was near the Florida Mall the night a man was found beaten and stabbed to death.

  • Deputies searching for man in Florida Mall stabbing case
  • Say man is person of interest, not suspect, in death of Dale Floren
  • Floren was found beaten and stabbed to death on April 14

"We want to rule him in, or rule him out. We are not calling him a suspect at this time, just a person of interest," sheriff's office spokesperson Jane Watrel said Thursday.

Dale Eric Floren, 56, was working on a construction project at the Florida Mall when he was found beaten and stabbed several times on April 14.

"When someone is just brutally murdered and taken from you like that, it leaves an empty spot in you because you just always wish you could have been there," said John, Dale Floren's brother.

Investigators only know how Floren died, but still aren't sure who killed him or why.

Deputies released a picture of the man. They believe he was in the area of the Florida Mall when the murder took place, and just hope he can help their investigation.

"The night of April 14 was a very hot night," Watrel said. "This man was heavily dressed so we are hoping that someone will remember that man and give us a call."

"Maybe someone will come forward. All we can do is hope," John Floren said.

Anyone with more information about the man pictured above is encouraged to contact Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS (8477).
