An Orange County Sheriff's Office cruiser collided with a car in the Alafaya area of the county Wednesday night.

Florida Highway Patrol says the deputy patrol car was travelling south on Alafaya Trail in the left turn lane with its emergency lights and sirens activated.

The cruiser entered the intersection of Alafaya and East Colonial Drive, and other vehicles yielded to the deputy, according to FHP.

But the cruiser collided with another car entering the intersection along East Colonial Drive, driven by Maria Reyes, 51.

She suffered minor injuries and was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center.

FHP is investigating.

Florida law requires drivers to yield the right-of-way to emergency vehicles, including law enforcement, when emergency sirens are activated.
