Citrus County is known for the place to find manatees. And now, one man hopes to add something else to that.

Just don't forget your helmet.

"Lean forward to go forward, lean back to go back," says Brodrick Jenkins, a Segway tour guide.

"Just relax," he instructs new riders.

The charter boat captain had a problem, life on the water became a tad lame. In fact, the boat captain fell out of favor with the water, he says, turning him into a land lover.

"After doing boat tours for 10 years, we're excited to do something different," Brodrick said.

Different comes in the form of Crystal River Segway Tours. Today, Brodrick navigates parks, goes down boardwalks and through downtown.

"You get an opportunity to see old Florida, new Florida, all of it rolled into one,” he explained.

After getting your balance, Captain Brodrick says you can dance on a Segway, as the machine will not toss you, thanks to a self-balancing gyroscope inside.

The Segways are built tough. Captain Brodrick says you can still glide in a little rain.

"It's one of the greatest feelings in the world riding for the first time."
