Someone stole a Titusville-area family's Yorkie during a home break-in, and they are desperately trying find her.

  • Beanie, a Yorkie, stolen from home on Rambling Acres Drive Wednesday
  • Investigators believe break-in may be part of theft ring
  • Family begging for return of dog

Burglars smashed through a window of the Mulligan home on Rambling Acres Drive mid-day Wednesday.

The thieves plundered through the home, swiping all kinds jewelry.

But the worst part -- they took Beanie.

Courtney, her owner, got the dog when she was 16, and was staying with her mother Mary.

She's in the process of moving to New York, and had planned on bringing the dog with her.

"Whoever did this is heartless. Because she is our baby, she is the light of our lives," Courtney said with tears in her eyes. "The fact she's missing is devastating. We love her so much, and the fact that someone would take her for whatever reason, we can't understand it."

Investigators say they don't believe the dog simply ran away during the incident.

They told the family the burglary could be part of a larger theft ring going around the North Brevard-Titusville area over the last year and half, with the crooks using the I-95 corridor to travel to Jacksonville or Miami.

Neighbors report seeing a suspicious van with the hood up, on the street, around the time the break-in happened.

The family is offering a $2,500 reward -- no questions asked -- for Beanie's safe return.

"Just dropped somewhere, so someone can let us know where she is so we can get her back," Courtney said.

Beanie is a small Yorkie, weighs 5 pounds, with a long coat with streaks of brown, blonde and silver.

She was last seen in the South Carpenter Road area of north Titusville.
