The lone running tram at Orlando International Airport was down for approximately 40 minutes Monday, but no passengers missed flights, officials said.

Carolyn Fennell, a spokeswoman with the airport, said the tram interruption happened at about 12:46 p.m. for service to Gates 30-59.

It lasted about 40 minutes.

Fennell said Phil Brown, executive director of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, met with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America officials last week to go over new protocols and a process to be able to respond to any issues faster and more effectively.

Brown and Mitsubishi officials also discussed the compensation program for customers that missed their flights and incurred costs as a result of the delays over the last two weeks, Fennell said.

The program could be in place by mid-May.
