A Lake County deputy who had a warrant out for his arrest in connection with a hit-and-run crash turned himself in and has resigned.

Mark Knuuttila was accused in the crash Saturday night in Eustis in which a Jeep crashed into a boat parked in the driveway of a residence.

He fled, according to Eustis Police, and later turned up at a hospital.

Knuuttila was a 24-year veteran of the Sheriff's Office and was assigned to the U.S. Marshals fugitive extradition unit.

Authorities said Knuuttila has bonded out of jail.
