  • Motorist Lashana Quinn of Orlando charged

The crossing guard was struck at the corner of Wymore Road and Kennedy Boulevard just before 8 a.m. Thursday.

The crossing guard told Eatonville Police she held her hand up with a stop sign to warn motorists. She said the driver of a black Mercedes-Benz who was using a cell phone ignored her command and went into the intersection anyway.

When detectives tracked down the owner of the vehicle, the owner told them that her friend, Lashana Quinn, was driving her car at the time, according to an arrest affidavit. The owner also told them that Quinn didn't stop because her driver's license was suspended, the report said.

Quinn, of Orlando, has been charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and leaving the scene of a crash with injuries.
