Two men died on Monday evening after their SUV was struck while attempting to make a left on Airport Boulevard in Sanford, according to police.

At about 11 p.m., two men in their 60s in a silver GMC Envoy was traveling southbound on U.S. 17-92 when they tried to make a left turn on Airport Boulevard.

The Envoy was struck by a silver Kia Sorento going northbound on U.S. 17-92 (South Orlando Drive), according to public information officer Ronny Neal of the Sanford Police Department.

The accident caused the Envoy to flip over, and the two male occupants died in the crash, Neal said. The driver of the Kia incurred minor injuries and was taken to Central Florida Regional Hospital.

The names of the victims have not been released. This is an active investigation, Neal said.
