Testimony in the retrial for Victoria Rios, the woman accused of helping to kill a young man in Poinciana in 2013, will begin Tuesday morning.

  • Victoria Rios is accused in the 2013 killing of Eric Roopnarine
  • Roopnarine was killed during home invasion and robbery
  • Rios' 1st trial ended in mistrial; 2 others serving life sentences

Prosecutors say Rios played a role in the July 3, 2013 death of 22-year-old Eric Roopnarine, who was shot and killed in his home by a group of teens.

Detectives think Rios, who was 17 at the time, lured Roopnarine to answer his door with the promise of sex. Roopnarine's home was ransacked, and he was shot in the face and his throat cut.

She is the last person in the case to be tried in the deadly home invasion. Her original trial ended in a mistrial.

David Damus and Konrad Schafer have been sentenced to life in prison for their roles in Roopnarine's killing.
