Merritt Island brush fire 77 percent contained

The brush fire at the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge has grown to 4,738 acres, fire officials said Sunday.

The fire, known at the Blackpoint Fire, is 77 percent contained.

It started along Blackpoint Wildlife Drive near Max Brewer Memorial Parkway.

Firefighters will continue to patrol the area throughout the night and into Monday.
