An area of low pressure in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean has become Subtropical Depression 1.

It's expected to be short-lived and is not forecast to be any threat to land.

The storm's maximum sustained winds are at 35 mph as of 11 a.m. It's at 31.9N, 40.9W — far out in the middle of the Atlantic — and is moving north-northeast at 8 mph.

It's expected to become absorbed by a large extratropical low on Thursday and dissipate.
