Our March was warmer and much drier than normal across East Central Florida. We have been like this over the past few months. Most areas only received about 25% of their average March rainfall.

Here are the numbers:

Average temperatures:

  • Daytona Beach had a monthly average temperature of 66.0 degrees. That was 1.7 degrees above normal.
  • Orlando had a monthly average temperature of 68.8 degrees. That was 1.9 degrees above normal.
  • Melbourne had a monthly average temperature of 69.5 degrees. That was 3.6 degrees above normal.
  • Vero Beach had a monthly average temperature of 68.6 degrees. That was 1.2 degrees above normal. 

Rainfall:

  • Daytona Beach received 1.07 inches of rain for the month. That was 3.17 inches below normal. 
  • Orlando received 0.10 inches of rain for the month. That was 3.67 inches below normal. This ranked as the 2nd driest March on record. The only drier March was in 2006 with only 0.02 inches.
  • Melbourne received 0.41 inches of rain for the month. That was 2.87 inches below normal. This ranks as the 4th driest March.
  • Vero Beach received 1.62 inches of rain for the month. That was 2.50 inches below normal.
