A new device coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom will help visitors learn the language of the Na’vi, Disney announced Thursday.

  • Na'vi Translator will help guests learn 90 Na'vi words
  • Device comes with 15 translation cards
  • Pandora-The World of Avatar opens May 27

With the Na’vi Translator, guests can learn to pronounce 90 Na’vi words using interchangeable translation cards. The device will also light up at night while guests explore Pandora after the sun sets.

“The Na’vi have no written language, so the translator will be a helpful tool for any human visiting Pandora,” said merchandise product developer Cody Hampton.

The device comes with 15 translation cards—additional cards will be sold in separate trading packs. The cards are color-coded and represent a different part of speech or topic: blue for nouns, purple for adjectives and orange for animals.

The Na’vi Translator can be attached to a belt or backpack using a clasp that extends up to 12 inches.

Disney partnered with Lightstorm Entertainment and Dr. Paul Frommer (who created the Na’vi language) to use audio recordings of spoken words for the translator.

The Na’vi Translator will be sold at Windtraders in Pandora this summer.

Pandora-The World of Avatar opens May 27.
