As conditions continue to remain dry, officials in Seminole and Osceola counties have enacted burn bans.

Both burn bans are effective immediately and will remain in place until further notice, officials said.

The burn ban in Osceola County prohibits all types of outside burning, including open fire pits, campfires and yard debris within the unincorporated areas of Osceola County.

For more information, contact Osceola County Deputy Chief Danny McAvoy at 321-624-0289.

The Seminole County burn ban prohibits all outdoor burning that hasn't been specifically permitted by the Florida Forest Service. Bonfires, campfires and the burning of vegetation (yard) debris isn't allowed.

Anyone who violates the burn ban can be punished by imprisonment for a term not to exceed 60 days or a fine not to exceed $500 or by both.

For more information on the burn ban, contact the Seminole County Office of Emergency Management at 407-665-5102. To report a violation of the ban, contact the Seminole County Sheriff's Office at 407-665-6650.
