  • The shooting happened near South OBT and 23rd Street
  • Driver crashed pickup truck, passenger pinned underneath

People in two separate vehicles were shooting at each other just after 12 p.m. near South Orange Blossom Trail and 23rd Street, deputies said.

The driver of a pickup truck, 29-year-old Sylvio Montina, was injured in the shooting and crashed into another vehicle on 23rd Street. The pickup truck overturned. The passenger, Darlene Harriell, 32, was pinned underneath.

Deputies said the Harriell was trying to get out of the truck as it was fleeing at a high rate of speed. She died at the scene.

"I came out to the corner and looked to my left and saw the car was turned over, the truck was turned over on top of that girl," said Ennis Williams, a neighbor.

Montina was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.

Shell casings were found at nearby Grace New Covenant Church.

Deputies said people were inside the church at the time of the shooting, but no one was injured.

The Sheriff’s Office is looking for a dark-colored, blue SUV that was last seen heading west on South Orange Blossom Trail.
