At around 6:45 p.m., an off-duty deputy noticed a black SUV driving around the Woodland Lakes Preserve subdivision and stopping at different houses. The deputy walked up to the SUV near Arbor View Boulevard and noticed that two teenagers were returning to the SUV.

When the deputy, who was near the open-passenger door, started asking questions to the three male teenagers and asked the driver for his license, the driver put the SUV in reverse and hit the gas, according to Lt. Craig Hall of the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

"This caused the open door to slam back and strike the deputy," Hall said.

The deputy was not injured.

However, the teenagers escaped and left the SUV after it could not go any further at Young Pine Road, a dead end.

The three teenagers were eventually found near the intersection of Curry Ford Road and Young Pine Road and were identified by the deputy, Hall stated. The driver and one of the passengers are 17 years old, while the other passenger is 16 years old.

All three have not been charged yet.
