Two people, ages 18 and 20, were killed in a seven-vehicle crash Sunday evening on Florida's Turnpike in Lake County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at about 5:35 p.m. at mile marker 292 near Howey-in-the-Hills.

According to a report, seven vehicles were traveling north on Florida's Turnpike in the inside lane approaching mile marker 291.

A pickup truck stopped for traffic ahead. Several vehicles behind the pickup truck proceeded to stop, but a 2015 Dodge pickup truck failed to stop, troopers said.

The Dodge pickup truck crashed into the back of a Hyundai Sonata, creating a chain-reaction crash.

Two people in the Sonata were killed. They have been identified as Valentina Martinez, 20, of Weston, and Antonio Mesa, 18, of Weston.

The driver of the Sonata, Maria Cardenas, 19, of Weston, and another passenger, Aztli Jiminez, 18, of Weston, both suffered serious injuries.

The driver of the Dodge, 32-year-old Bilal Ead, of Windermere, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center.

Drivers of four other vehicles all suffered minor injuries, troopers said.

The unidentified driver of the pickup truck failed to remain on scene and traveled north on the highway. The crash remains under investigation.
