A five-acre brush fire in east Orange County initially threatened homes Thursday afternoon, but the fire has died down and no evacuations have been ordered, officials said.

The fire ignited near Nita Court and Shelly Avenue, which is near County Road 13 in Bithlo.

As many as 12 homes were threatened, but the fire is almost completely contained, according to the Florida Forest Service. 

Crews will monitor the fire and hot spots overnight. 

Orange County Fire Rescue, the Orange County Sheriff's Office and the Florida Forest Service were all on scene.
