  • Former Mayor E.F. Sperry donated fountain in 1914

The Sperry fountain — more than 100 years old — was recently restored and installed at the historic Greenwood Cemetery.

Former Mayor E.F. Sperry, an Orlando pioneer, donated the fountain in 1914, the same year he became mayor.

"The fountain is actually considered one of the first pieces of public art in the city, completely donated by Mayor Sperry," city sexton Don Price said Friday.

Sperry also donated his Lake Eola land to the city. His property completed the shoreline for Orlando's most famous park.
