Ericka Dunlap, the former Miss America and UCF graduate, is hoping to conquer a new crowd -- Orlando District 5.
Dunlap is running for Orlando City Council, challenging incumbent Regina Hill for the seat that includes parts of Parramore, Pine Hills and Metrowest.
Dunlap was crowned Miss America in 2004, while still attending the University of Central Florida. Since then she's become a consultant and public speaker. She said she's also worked with at-risk youth in Central Florida.
Dunlap will face a crowded field in the November election.
Hill is running for a second term. Also running is Jibreel Ali, Cynthia Harris, Stovelleo Stovall, Betty Gelzer and Latasha Wright.
