An investigation is underway after a shooting near Daytona Beach, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a residence on Old Kings Road after 1 p.m. for a domestic violence call and reports of shots fired.
When deputies arrived, they found Candice Hall with a gunshot wound to the abdomen, according to deputies.
She was taken to Halifax Hospital, where she is undergoing surgery.
According to witnesses inside the house, William Cox pistol-whipped Hall. That’s when the family dog attacked him. He shot and killed the dog before shooting Hall, deputies said.
As the Hall fled the house, Cox shot and killed himself.
No other details have been released.
