An unidentified man was killed after standing in front of a train during the overnight, according to the Holly Hill Police Department.

Around 1:05 a.m., officers arrived at 3rd Street in Holly Hill when they discovered the body of a white male near the tracks, officials stated.

The train conductor told police that the man was standing on the tracks facing the train at the intersection of 3rd Street.

"The conductor said the male never attempted to move out of the way and was struck," stated Stephen K. Aldrick, Holly Hill Chief of Police.

The identity of the man is unknown and why he was in front of the train and what the train conductor was doing before the accident will be determined during the ongoing investigation, Aldrick stated.
