A pedestrian was killed after being hit by an Amtrak train Sunday night, according to the Winter Park Police Department.

The incident happened just before 8 p.m. near North Orlando Avenue and involved an Amtrak train.

The pedestrian was taken to a hospital but died.

About 163 passengers were aboard the Amtrak train at the time of the accident, according to Chelsea Kopta, an Amtrak spokesperson.

"... Amtrak train 92, the Silver Star that operates between New York City and Miami, struck a person who was trespassing on the tracks north of the Winter Park Amtrak station," she said.

No injuries were reported to the passengers or crew.
