There’s now a new way for people in downtown Orlando to satisfy their sweet tooth.

  • Insomnia Cookies serves cookies, brownies and ice cream
  • It also delivers until 3 a.m.
  • The downtown location is the 2nd in Orlando

Insomnia Cookies opened a new store along North Orange Avenue.

It serves cookies, brownies, cookie cakes and ice cream and delivers until 3 a.m.

“Here in downtown Orlando, you have a lot of bars and a lot of restaurants and a lot of things for people to do late," said Tyree Gallimore, marketing manager of Insomnia Cookies. "When they get out of those clubs and everything, you might have a pizza shop or diner open, but no one is serving those sweets and ice cream."

Insomnia Cookies started in a dorm room on the college campus of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. They then expanded to food trucks, before opening brick-and-mortar locations.

The chain already has a store by the University of Central Florida, but, this will be their first downtown venture.

"Our main demographic for our customer is that college student, mainly because they're up late, studying and partying," said Gallimore. "But we've been broadening to city stores."

Insomnia said that cookies are made in-house and baked fresh daily.

The North Orange Avenue location, which has and a dozen employees between the store and delivery drivers, is its 110th shop.
