The 3-year-old boy lived in a trailer at Lake John's Motel Efficiency.
According to a witness at the scene, the child was running after his sibling, who was taking out the trash, and he accidentally ran in front of the truck.
"When he went down the steps, as soon as he, like, set foot in the street I saw a truck come around the corner, and I immediately I was, like, 'Junior, stop, Junior, stop'. I was, like, 'Sarah tell your brother to stop' and I started running off of the steps, and then the truck hit him and there was like nothing I could do," said Yazay Brown, a witness.
When paramedics arrived at the scene the boy was talking, but he was in bad shape.
He was taken to Arnold Palmer Hospital where he later died.
According to police, the driver stayed at the scene.
