The Lake County Sheriff's Office says two people are now in custody for the death of Rubye James, the 92-year-old woman who was found dead after disappearing this week.

The 92-year-old James had been missing since Monday. Her body was found Wednesday night.

James' death has been ruled a homicide.

Deputies arrested Krystopher Laws, 21, and Joshua McClellan, 19, on charges of first-degree murder and robbery Friday. No further details have been released.

While being taken into the jail, McClellan cried and said he did not kill James. He told reporters James was a friend and she paid him to do yard work or work around the house.

Laws said he wanted to talk to reporters to say he did not kill James and he did not know who did.

Detectives said both men will have their first appearances in court Saturday morning.

James was reported missing Monday after someone called authorities and said she had not been seen at her Edgewood Road home, where she lived alone.

Her car was found Wednesday night a little more than 4 miles away from the house. Not far from the vehicle, a sheriff's office canine found James' remains in a shallow grave.
