Puerto Rico disaster center at OIA starts to scale back

The Puerto Rico disaster center at the Orlando International Airport is starting to scale back. Starting this week they will close both Saturday and Sunday.

Airport officials said they have seen a decrease in passengers flying in from the island. They have not announced a date as to when the assistance center will close.

A member of Governor's Rick Scott office said the centers at Miami and Orlando airports will remain open as Florida continues recovery efforts for those impacted by Hurricane Maria.

According to numbers from the Emergency Management, the center at OIA has helped more than 27,000 individuals displaced by the Hurricane.

Puerto Rican families are still seen arriving to the center asking for help and orientation

Airport officials said they’re in discussions with state agencies to figure out if relocation is an option.
