A man already in federal custody has been charged with kidnapping and first-degree murder in the slaying of a Winter Park personal assistant.

Scott Edward Nelson, who had been a person of interest in the disappearance of Jennifer Lynn Fulford, faces several other charges, including assault and carjacking, Winter Park Police said Wednesday.

Nelson was taken into custody in Jacksonville on Oct. 1 and was later ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation.

Fulford, 56, of Altamonte Springs, was reported missing Sept. 27 from the 100 block of East Webster Avenue in Winter Park, where she worked as a personal assistant to a family. Her body was found three days later in a wooded area off Apopka-Vineland Road in Orange County.
