According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a Ford Explorer was heading westbound in the right lane near Lee Road, while a Volkswagen was in the left lane going the same direction.

For an unknown reason, the Ford crossed all the way across the westbound lanes, striking the Volkswagen and forcing it into a ditch. The car came to rest on its passenger side.

The female driver had to be extricated and was hospitalized with injuries that were not life-threatening, troopers said.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Ford pulled off I-4 at the next exit ramp, got out of the vehicle, hopped into another one and drove off.
