We had a warm start to the work week as temperatures soared well above seasonable levels into the low 80s.

  • Tuesday's highs at 84 degrees
  • Small chance of rain further in the week
  • Christmas weekend to be mostly sunny, highs in the 80s

A sprawling area of high pressure across the southwestern Atlantic provided us more of a southerly flow Monday, not only allowing our temperatures to climb 10-degrees above average, but increasing moisture in the atmosphere as well.

Warm and muggy conditions take us right through Christmas Eve. We’re forecasting a mostly sunny sky and highs in the low to mid-80s into Wednesday.

Early morning areas of fog will be a bit of a problem for morning commuters each day too. A weak front slips in our direction Thursday, but falls apart by the time it reaches central Florida. It’s only expected to provide a wind shift and a temperature drop of a couple degrees.

Christmas weekend looks mostly sunny with highs either side of 80. A front approaches late Monday, with an isolated shower possible Christmas night.

Dense early morning fog will be the only weather issue giving us travel concerns the next few days.

Wave heights of only one to two feet and small easterly swell traces will hamper the ability to catch some good waves, so very poor surfing conditions are expected.

We are looking at a low rip current threat all week, but you’ll have to contend with sea surface temps in the mid to upper 60s if you’re planning a little swim while at the beach.
