It’s the busiest time of the year for travel and thousands of passengers are stranded due to the power outage at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in Atlanta.

  • Atlanta airport power outage caused cancellations in Orlando
  • Five flights were canceled at Orlando International Airport
  • Passengers were stranded on Sunday because of the outage

In Central Florida, there are five flight cancellations at the Orlando International Airport. Those affected told News 13 they just want to get home for the holidays.

Atlanta is home for Ziggy Fulton but her plans to make it back are now on hold.

“I don’t want to stay anymore, I want to go home for the holidays,” she said.

Fulton spent much of her time at the Orlando International Airport looking up at the flight board or checking her cell phone to keep up with the status of her flight.

“Well it was delayed 30 minutes, on hour, two hours, indefinitely and then just canceled,” Fulton said.

She is not the only one. The power outage at the Atlanta airport has impacted thousands.

Alice Marotto, another passenger who was also affected, is trying to keep positive about the whole situation.

“Everyone really here has been quite good to work with and very helpful,” Marotta said. “They've really tried their best. It’s a situation that is involving a lot of people not just us.”

For Fulton however, the power outage is frustrating. Fulton said she has has been on the road for two weeks due to work related reasons. Just last weekend she got delayed due to snow and now she’s dealing with this power outage.

“Oh my goodness second delay," she said. "Got delayed last weekend cause of a foot of snow. So I came straight here from LA. [I've] been on the road two weeks now. Ready to be home for Christmas."

Both of these passengers are hoping the power is restored soon so they can get back to their destinations.
