Two people were killed in a vehicle crash in Ocala Friday afternoon.

Ocala Fire Rescue was called out to the 2000 block of NE 14th Street around 4:30 p.m. due to a vehicle fire. 

Fire crews said black smoke was visible from the vehicle. A vehicle was pinned under the cab of a semi-truck, in flames, officials said. 

The flames ignited after the truck's saddle tank was ruptured, according to fire crews. 

Officials said the truck driver was able to get out of the cab after impact, but crews were unable to remove the passenger and driver of the vehicle, as flames rapidly spread. 

Both occupants of the vehicle were killed. 

The truck driver was transported to the hospital. 

The crash remains under investigation.
