Detectives charged Officer Frederick Rolle Wednesday for driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident.
Authorities say Rolle crashed his personal pick-up into a toll plaza on State Road 408 near Andes Avenue on Nov. 18.
Rolle was relieved of duty with pay after the crash. OPD is conducting an ongoing internal investigation.
Orlando Police initially fired Rolle in August of 2016. Documents from an internal investigation say he and another officer chased a suspect without telling the communications division, or using their emergency flashers and sirens.
Investigators say the officers then moved the suspect's car to try to cover it up.
Rolle eventually appealed and won his job back.
