There is additional police presence at University of Central Florida after a security threat was made Tuesday night.

The University of Central Florida Police Department says a man made a phone call, saying he had weapons on campus. However, they say the caller sounded like he was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Police determined the threat ended up being a prank, but that did not stop them from adding extra security.

At this time, no one has been caught; however, officials are trying to find the person.

Spectrum News 13 has been told for the next few days there will be additional officers stationed around campus.

Police got a call around 5 p.m. from someone who threatened to do harm on campus.

"They claimed to have weapons and they claimed they wanted to do harm to the campus," said Deputy Chief Carl Metzger of the UCF Police Department.

Investigators later determined the call did not pose a serious threat.

However, with thousands of people attending a men’s basketball game and the Light Up UCF event, they did not want to take any chances.

"I'm confident the UCF police and other security people have the situation at hand and if there was any danger we’d know that by now," says Robin Oliver.

So far, authorities are not releasing any more details about what the caller said or where the call came from.

They are working with state and federal authorities to find the caller.

Police at UCF tell Spectrum News 13 when they find out who made that phone call, he will face severe criminal consequences.
