A sky diver was injured Wednesday morning after hitting his head on the plane he was jumping out of, says DeLand Police.

The 35-year-old man was found near Edison Drive and DaVita Way shortly after 11:30 a.m.

Authorities say that the sky diver is an active U.S. Navy member and was injured during a training exercise.  

According to police, the man told them he hit his head after jumping out of the plane. He only recalled waking up on the ground.

The sky diver sustained minor injuries and was transported to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach by AirOne helicopter, says DeLand police.
