The suspect in a Nov. 22 hit and run crash on Interstate 95 that injured a Flagler County deputy is now in a detention facility.

James Rex Voorhees, 74, was extradited from South Carolina after being arrested at his South Carolina home by Beaufort County deputies.

Voorhees is accused of leaving the scene of two crashes and causing Flagler deputy Bret Wood to lose control of his motorcycle after trying to pursue Voorhees.

He is being charged with leaving the scene of an accident with injury and property damage, and knowingly driving with a suspended license.

Wood was hospitalized but has since recovered from his injuries and returned to duty.

Voorhees is currently at the Flagler County Detention Facility. His bond is set at $6,000.
