The University of Central Florida Police Department is searching for a person of interest in an armed robbery near campus Wednesday night.

  • UCFPD search for person of interest in armed robbery Wednesday night
  • Roommates said two men robbed them at gunpoint
  • Detectives want to speak to woman seen on surveillance video

The incident happened around 7 p.m. on the third floor at the Pointe at Central apartments on 11739 College Park Trail, according to the police report.

Roommates Cameron Robau and Patrick Michel said that two men, possibly Hispanic, barged into their apartment and held them at gunpoint. Only one of the men had a firearm.

They took several belongings from the roommates, including a wallet--with cash, cards, and an ID in it--a PlayStation console, PlayStation games, a backpack and an iPhone 7 from Michel.

The victims reportedly waited about an hour to call police because they believed the suspects were still in the vicinity when they tracked the GPS location of Michel's phone.

Detectives said in a statement that they want to speak to a woman seen on the security gate surveillance camera. They believe she spent time in the unit that was robbed prior to the incident.

According to a UCF alert, police say they think the apartment unit was targeted and that the incident was drug-related.

No one was injured, and police say that there is no threat to the complex or campus.
