A man accused of kidnapping two men, forcing them into the trunk of a car and setting it on fire, is in the Orange County Jail, authorities say.

One of the men was found dead in the trunk of the car Tuesday.

Later that night, detectives with the Lake County Sheriff's Office found Ivan Enrique Figueroa Serrano at an apartment in Orlando. He was taken to the Orange County Jail, where he is being held on charges of murder, attempted murder and two counts of kidnapping.

Serrano is accused of kidnapping two men, driving them to a parcel of farmland off Schofield Road in Clermont and then setting the car on fire while they were inside the trunk.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office received several 911 calls shortly after 11 p.m. Monday. Deputies say a man in the roadway was flagging down people for help near the intersection of Schofield and North Bradshaw roads.

"He led us to believe that his friend was still in the trunk and that he was able to escape out of the trunk,” said Sgt. Fred Jones of the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

That man also told investigators that Serrano carjacked him and his friend, Jones said.

"It’s one of those stories where it’s kind of hard to believe when he talks about the car was set on fire. He was afraid his friend was left in there and possibly dead in the trunk,” Jones said.

Deputies searched the car and found the remains of a man in the trunk.

The man who escaped identified Serrano after the arrest. He was treated at a hospital for injuries after being shot.

The names of that man and the man found dead have not been released.
