A St. Petersburg man died while trying to cross an Osceola County highway on Sunday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

At about 7 p.m., a 2008 Ford SUV driven by 34-year-old Victor Rodriguez on eastbound U.S. 192 struck 24-year-old Matthew Mitchell near Pine Grove Road in St. Cloud, troopers said.
The SUV overturned, and a skateboard was found next to Mitchell. It's not clear whether he was riding the skateboard or was carrying it as he walked, troopers said.
Rodriguez, of St. Cloud, was not hurt, was wearing a seat belt and didn't appear to be impaired, according to the FHP.
Rodriguez has not been charged, FHP said. The investigation is ongoing.
