A motorcyclist was critically injured after being hit by a pickup truck Sunday afternoon in Titusville, police said.

The crash happened on U.S. 1 just before noon.
Richard Gavin, 71, of Christmas, was making a U-turn onto U.S. 1 when he “failed to maintain a single lane” during the turn, authorities said. His Chevy Silverado 1500 truck hit the motorcyclist who was heading north on U.S. 1.
The motorcyclist was airlifted to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. He was not wearing a helmet, police said.
The crash remains under investigation.
