The Marion County Sheriff's Office has arrested a Summerfield man in the shooting death of William Lolley II, 30, on July 31.

Deputies said Jeffrey Rewis, 49, shot and killed Lolley at Rewis' home after an altercation.

According to witnesses, the two men got into an argument, which quickly escalated. When the victim attempted to leave in a van with several others, witnesses said Rewis shot at the victim with an AK-47 type weapon from the back patio on the second floor of the home.

Deputies said witnesses statements were consistent with the evidence found at the scene--including bullet trajectory and a modified assault rifle found on Rewis' property.

Deputies also said Rewis' initial statement was inconsistent with witness statements and continuously altered his story during interviews.

Rewis was initially arrested the day after the shooting due to possession of drugs and ammunition by a convicted felon.

Rewis was arrested Friday, Nov. 17, and charged with second degree murder, possession of a machine gun, and possession of a firearm with an altered serial number. He is also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Rewis is currently being held in the Marion County jail on no bond.
