In Brevard County, the Palm Bay Police Department stated in a news conference on Friday morning that the "credible threat" made against Southwest Middle School was not credible.

Police stated an anonymous app was used to create the threat outside of  the U.S. and it circulated on Snapchat. Southwest Middle School was mentioned in the threat, however, it did not specify which school with the name "Southwest" was the target.

Earlier, Spectrum News 13 was told by the Police Department there would be increased patrols at Southwest Middle School on Friday.

However, the reason they have stepped up patrols is because it circulated in the community and police are trying to ease the minds of parents and students.

The police department sent out an alert late Thursday night after a student said he or she was planning an attack on the school Friday.

Police say the social media post said someone was planning an incident for Friday, Nov. 17.

This comes after multiple threats were made at schools in Central Florida this week and law enforcement is issuing a stern warning.

The threat caused law enforcement to warn students that even if it is meant as a joke, they will be facing some serious charges.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office stated the threats are a drain on emergency resources.

"It can cost up to tens of thousands of dollars. Because of the fact that you have up to 50 police officers, and this is multiple agencies that respond, not only Orange County, you have assisting agencies that respond as well, you have the fire department,” said Capt. Angelo Nieves, a public information officer with the Sheriff's Office.

A Timber Creek High School student was arrested Tuesday after deputies said she wrote threats on the bathroom stall, saying she would blow up the school.

Windermere High School was also placed on lockdown after a report of a person with a gun on campus.

Over in Melbourne, a threat was made against Central Middle School Friday morning.

The district told Spectrum News 13 its working with the principal to send out an alert to parents. Classes have not been cancelled at Central Middle and Southwest Middle schools
