Beautiful stories were shared at the Brevard Family Partnership's Celebration of Adoption event.

Seventeen children legally went to 12 new families, as Judge Charles Crawford signed on the dotted line.

Orlando's Annabelle Farrington has waited for this day for more than a year. She is now the adoptive mother of 2-year-old Malik, and 11-month-old Aniyah.

"The love you have for these children is amazing," Farrington said.

Farrington works as a nurse, and when she found out both the brother and sister were being given up by their biological parents, she knew what she had to do.

"I think bringing kids into my home and giving them a safe life is the best thing I could do," she said.

"They just want to know that they are loved, and have a place to call home."

It's a milestone for BFP, as this group marks 1,000 adoptions since its inception in 2003.

Their goal is to protect children in the worst of circumstances, like neglect, abuse or when parents abandon them.

The group also helps unite these children with families who will raise and care for them.
