A Brevard County man is being held on a $100,000 bond after being charged with kidnapping his ex-girlfriend.

Hartful Smith, 33, is accused of forcing the woman into her car at her Viera apartment complex Tuesday morning, then driving off.
Investigators say the car was low on gas, and when he stopped at a nearby gas station, she walked inside to pay and tried to tell the clerk she needed help.
Smith came up behind her, and once outside, dragged her back in the car.
The victim tried to call her roommate for help, but Smith took the phone away.
But a friend heard some of the commotion and was able to track the phone to Smith's Palm Bay home.
That's where police took him into custody on kidnapping charges.
